Because “hot” niches, like hot fires, burn out fast.

When was the last time you wound up at a Forex site?  Like a hot fire, Forex was a hot niche, and like hot fires it burned out fast.  Same with the “work from home” schemes niche…a flash and gone, and the list goes on. Besides, before the net loses interest in the latest hot niche, you will have, and when you lose interest that means…here it comes… You won’t be constantly creating compelling (quality) content.  (You had to know that was coming, right?) Because the latest “hot niche” may be hot…but if you aren’t hot about it you can’t write epic posts, you can’t write visceral content…in short you just can’t Continue reading »

“…keywords are still there…and relevant… we are just tired of being abused!”

Many people (myself included) have written about the death of keywords, and have given as proof the video by Matt Cutts, the HMWIC of Google search, of him saying that Google no longer considered keywords in its search algorithm.  We have implied, some by not being clear (me again), and some out of ignorance, that bloggers should have been ignoring keywords since 2009 because they no longer impacted your Continue reading »

…or, who to write for…search engine algorithms or living human beings?

Google Panda…Google Penguin…sheesh, what zoo animal will Google unleash on bloggers next that will completely disrupt our blogging technique and make us rethink our SEO strategy?  Well, if you are just starting out blogging and get started on the right foot, or if you have been around a while and have been doing things right already, you won’t have to change much when Google gets a wild hair and adds to the zoo.Google slams ain't pretty, are they?

You see, there are two ways to add content to your site, one is good and always has been and the other is bad…but worked for SEO until Panda, Penguin, and the next Google slam.

You can add content that was written with Google’s rankings in mind.

Sometimes this still manages to be “good” content that viewers…the human kind…will find Continue reading »

If you are new to internet marketing…or even if you’ve been paying attention for a while…you’ve probably been getting a lot of emails offering you the latest BSB (Big Shiny Button) that will give you the magical ability to “Crush

it!” or “Kill it”, all by working…well…by working hardly at all, maybe just a fraction of a normal 8 hour workday each week!

Some of the offers promise to make you an Internet Marketing Ninja or Guru, while others tell you that the special BSB they are offering (at a reduced price just for YOU! of course) is designed, coded, or endorsed by a Ninja or Guru who drives a Ferrari, lives in a beach house that rivals those in Malibu, and has 4 (silicone) “endowed” girlfriends.  Whew!

The email subject lines from these folks get pretty outrageous too:

  • “I NEED YOUR PHONE NUMBER (important & urgent)” …what, so you can bug me during dinner like telemarketers?  How about if YOU give ME your number?  I’ll call if Continue reading »

Everything you read about success on the internet these days seems to always tell website owners that no matter what else they do, they MUST include videos on their websites.  It seems to be a given that video is mandatory if Sometimes you just have to stop and think!you want internet success.

This site is no different.  After all, HayleStorm Interactive is all about two things:

  • Tutorials on WordPress, from the absolute newbie level to more advanced techniques so you can get the absolute most out of the WordPress platform, and…
  • How to produce quality web videos to promote your products or websites for a tiny fraction of what you would expect to spend.

So…if half of this site is dedicated to inexpensive web video production, why would we say video should be “avoided like the plague”?  After all, in 2012 half of all internet traffic Continue reading »
